Frequently Asked Questions

Following are some of the more frequently asked questions about our product. If you think of other questions, please don't hesitate to contact us.

What's the difference between email marketing and SPAM?

Email marketing serves the consumer by delivering content that is anticipated, personal, and relevant. The idea is to offer real value in exchange for permission to continue sending messages. SPAM is unsolicited bulk email sent by anonymous senders without permission. House & Home Publications maintains a strict anti-spam policy and is 100% compliant with the Federal CAN-SPAM Act of 2003. By providing great value, you receive loyalty and trust in return.

Where do I get email addresses from?

Your email addresses should be collected through various means. All on the up-and-up. Such as:

  • Your existing contacts who have given you permission to send them email
  • A "subscribe" form on your web site, which we're happy to add for you
  • A "subscribe" field on your guestbook at open house events. You can even take some color print-outs of your newsletter along to show visitors an example.
  • When talking to a potential prospect, just ask them if they'd like to receive your newsletter. Any social event or business conversation can present an opportunity to ask for someone's permission to send them your useful newsletter.

Is there a limit to the number of subscribers I can send to?

No, as long as they've all given you permission to send to them. While House & Home does have a 1,000-subscribe ceiling for each of our clients, it literally only costs pennies a week to go beyond the 1,000 mark. If you already have more than 1,000 subscribers, we definitely want to hear from you.

Can I import my existing client list from a database, spreadsheet, or contact management software?

Yes. Our technical staff can assist you in importing your list from virtually any type of format. Contact us for details.

Can I purchase lists of email addresses or hot prospects?

No. House & Home Publications does not support the practice of purchasing lists. The reason is, sending to such a list would likely be in conflict with the Federal CAN-SPAM Act, and would also tend to do more harm to your reputation than it would do good. You want your list to be composed of people who want to hear from you, not people who are going to send you angry replies or report your message as SPAM.
